Financial Aid

The goal of Texas Tech-Costa Rica is to help you earn a Texas Tech degree.

We cut our students’ costs dramatically by bringing the campus to Costa Rica. Still, for many of Costa Rica’s best, brightest, and most ambitious students, a Texas Tech education remains a financial stretch.

Learn more about tuition and other costs. And when you’ve done that, start exploring options for achieving your dream:

  • Take out a loan to pay for an investment in your education

Scholarship Eligibility

To be awarded a scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Unless you are already enrolled, you must start by submitting your application for admission to Texas Tech-CR.
  • Your cumulative GPA must be at least 3.2 (higher for some scholarships)
  • You must have achieved one of the following
    • a minimum score of 530 in Math SAT and 480 in Reading SAT; or
    • a passing score on the TSI assessments, which are taken right here on campus before your first semester.
  • Participate actively in our Texas Tech-CR community and foster engagement and camaraderie among your fellow students.
  • Commit to enrolling in a minimum of 12 credit hours each Fall and Spring semesters during your Texas Tech-CR journey. (Some exceptions may apply.)

Applying for a Scholarship

To apply for a scholarship, follow these 3 steps:

  • If you are not a current student, contact the recruitment team. They will help you submit your application for admission to Texas Tech University.
  • Complete the application form corresponding to the scholarship you are seeking. (Each form is linked below, with the name of the scholarship.) Application forms include prompts for you to write brief essays. They also require that you upload your resume, transcripts, and other relevant information. (An exception is noted below).
  • Have a letter of support sent directly to scholars@edulinksa.com. The subject line for each should contain the applicant student’s full name. Ideally, this letter should be from a current instructor.

Note that there is an exception to this requirement: The Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships requires no form, essays, or letter. (Lucky!)

Maintaining Your Scholarship

A scholarship means we trust you to perform well as a student. To renew a scholarship you have been granted, you must show unwavering commitment to academic progress toward your degree. Here is how you can do that:

  • Maintain an acceptable cumulative GPA. (The acceptable threshold varies depending on your scholarship.)
  • Take the required class sequence in your major.
  • Take sufficient credit hours each semester.
  • Limit the number of classes you drop or repeat.
  • Make sure you’re enrolled and in your classes by the first week of each semester, and attend class meetings consistently.
  • If you start an “Explore” track in business or engineering, declare your major by the end of your 2nd semester.

Our scholarship application process operates on a rolling basis, which means that right now is the best time to apply. Once your documents are in, our Scholarship Committee may invite you to a personal interview. Your future awaits!
