Who We Are

At Texas Tech-CR, the full university experience of one of the USA’s great public universities is available in an intimate, student-centered setting in San José. Graduates are prepared to compete globally through accessible academic and co-curricular programs. Regional students get all this closer to home, and for a lower cost than relocating to the U.S.A. for the same formal education.

Texas Tech also offers executive education programs and carries out applied research in areas of local interest. The U.S. university engages in regional industry and expands Costa Rica’s identity as a hub for manufacturing, R&D, and services.

History

To make high-quality U.S. education available to students in Central America, the Promérica Group partnered with Texas Tech University. Together, they established a pioneering satellite campus, and in Fall 2018, Texas Tech-CR welcomed its first students.

Texas Tech University and Promérica Group are proud to have launched the first U.S. degree-granting institution in Costa Rica, with a mission of bringing progress through education.

Mission

Texas Tech University-Costa Rica educates leaders in business and technology who can compete in the global economy. Delivering Texas Tech programs aligned with the region’s economic opportunities, Texas Tech-CR helps students reach international academic standards in an environment that nurtures experiential learning, autonomy, inclusion, and a love of learning.

Vision

Texas Tech University-Costa Rica will become a catalyst for economic progress and educational innovation in Central America and the Caribbean. By channeling the knowledge resources of Texas Tech University, Texas Tech-CR will
  • amplify Costa Rica’s impact as a regional hub for industry and sustainable development,

The campus also extends Texas Tech’s educational and knowledge-generating mission into the Americas through international exchange, executive education, and innovative engagement with hemispheric challenges.
